Charles Edwin (Chuck) Williams
Chuck peacefully passed on December 16, 2018. He is now reunited with his wife Joan, in heaven.
Chuck began his journey through life in Detroit Michigan on November 27th 1929. He was the 8th and last child of Fred and Carrie Williams.
In 1951 Chuck and his wife followed his older brother Stan out west to the San Fernando Valley where he learned the construction trades. They were both happy to live in a place that didn’t require a snow shovel. By 1960 Chuck was ready to go out on his own so he packed up his family of six and moved to Santa Barbara and started his own construction company. Chuck left his mark on many buildings in Santa Barbara County throughout his career as a Contractor.
He was a member of El Montecito Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and sang in the Choir.
He was involved with the Presbytery Homes of Southern California sitting on the board of directors for many years.
Chuck was an active and passionate Freemason. He was a member of Santa Barbara Lodge 192 and countless other Masonic bodies.
He was a faithful blood donor and was a member of the gallon club several times over.
One of his other passions was flying. Joan got him lessons for his 45th birthday.
He flew up until he was 80 years old when he reluctantly relinquished his license.
Together they saw much of the United States up in his plane.
Chuck was happiest when he was helping others. All you had to do was ask and he would be there ready to help and if it involved building or fixing something that was even better.
Chuck leaves behind his two sons, Mark and Chick and three daughters, Barbara (Sam Licata), Suzi (David Schwartz), Barbara (Willy Hughes), nine grandkids and nine great grandkids. His family and friends will dearly miss him.
His family would like to thank everyone at Mission Villa for the loving care they gave to Chuck. You truly were a blessing to him and all his family those last several months.
A service celebrating Chuck’s life will be held Saturday February 9th at 2:00 pm at the Santa Barbara Masonic Lodge, 16 East Carrillo Street. Santa Barbara.
