Mary Jessie Altamirano

Mary Jessie Altamirano, a lifelong resident of Santa Barbara, died on October 22, 2019. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Altamirano; her son, Mark Altamirano; her daughter, Jennie Martinez (Michael Martinez); and her three grandchildren, Stephen (Nina), Kelly, and Daniel Martinez. She is predeceased by her son, Edward; her parents, Ildefonsa and Caterino Escobar: and other siblings.
Jessie was born at home on Christmas Day in Santa Barbara. She was the 10th of 11 children and enjoyed growing up on the Westside and Eastside of Santa Barbara. She married John Altamirano and they soon welcomed a daughter, and two sons. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time at the YMCA, reading, and spent many hours with her grandchildren.

Jessie worked most of her adult life for the Santa Barbara School District in Food Services at Adams Elementary School. She enjoyed working with the staff and preparing the food for the children’s breakfasts and lunches.

Services will be held on November 7th at 10:00 AM at San Roque Church. Graveside Services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
