Known as Mama Flo to many Flo lived in Santa Barbara, CA from 1962-1978. In the 1960s Flo worked at Carrows restaurant Goleta location. Flo wore White go-go boots and a black mini skirt, our dad loved it. Her home on Pattersons. Ave was a home where everyone was welcomed. All our friends wanted Mama Flo to be their mom, so she had some adopted kids from the neighborhood. Flo also received her Real Estate license in 1975, and worked for Home Reality on De La Vina at Constance St. Flo moved to Northern California in 1978 to work with her younger brother Tommy and his Wife Vic in Real Estate. She continued to work for Carrows Restaurants, in Oakland and doing restaurant openings. Mama Flo also found a job at the age of 80 at Costco. Flo was a gifted oil painter and artist., she loved all kinds of music and dancing, doing word search puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a caregiver to her late partner Larry, until his death and made the courageous move back to Canada. At London, on November 7th, 2019 in her 99th year. Predeceased by her husband Joseph Dorland (1974), her partner and companion Larry Jackson (2003) and 11 siblings. She leaves to mourn her: brother James, her daughter Patricia Maurice (Terry), Susan Short (James), Constance Koch, Mary Nelson (David), her three grandsons; Gregory Faulkner (Cadence), Joseph Macias (Rebecca) and Matthew Short, two great-granddaughters; Madison Faulkner and Layla Macias, great-grandson; Jojo Macias, two sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Lovingly cared for since her return to Canada in 2004 by her daughter Mary and Husband David. Special thanks to Dr. Jeff Spence and Dr. Ganesh Persaud, the staff at PeopleCare, Oak Crossing, Claudia Ferguson, Pastor Ellen Bueso and the Threshold Choir. Cremation has taken place. According to her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial. Her ashes will rest with her husband Joseph in Santa Barbara, CA.
