Celia Justine Brown
Celia Justine Brown 1934-2019 died November 7th, 2019 in Santa Barbara, California.
Celia’s favorite childhood memories included spending time at her aunt’s Italian restaurant in San Jose and family vacations camping in Yosemite. Celia (Cece) was the only child of Dolores Wolfe Del Mutolo and Judge MG Del Mutolo.
Celia met Dick, her future husband, while in middle school. They married in 1953 and began their married life in Oceanside where Dick was stationed in the Marines.
Dick and Cece spent most of their 59 year marriage in Gilroy where they raised their three children; David, Kathy and Jim.
Celia earned a History degree at San Jose State University and a law degree at Santa Clara University. Her law practice was in San Jose.
She enjoyed many trips to Europe, often traveling with Elderhostel. Her other joys included the ocean, books and watching football (49ers). Most of all she loved her family.
Celia moved to Santa Barbara in 2012 to be near her family. She participated in her senior community as part of the music group, playing the ukulele and singing. She was involved in committee work and made a point of adding some wit to her reports to keep them interesting.
Celia will be remembered for her intellect, her style and her laughter. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Celia was predeceased by her husband, Dick Brown, in 2012 as well as her son, David in 1974. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Quiroz (Ernie) and son Jim Brown (Andrea); grandchildren Heidi Goodwin (William), Ernesto Quiroz (Mireya), and Jared Quiroz (Chelsy); great grandchildren Deja, Will and Devin Goodwin and Ernesto and Abraham Quiroz.
