Jeff Minar
Jeff Minar passed away at his home in Hillsboro, OR on November 27th at age 56 and is now with his Lord. Born in Southern California, Jeff lived in many places as the son of an Air Force officer including Dayton, OH, El Lago, TX, Hollywood, CA and Solvang, CA where he graduated class of 1982 from Santa Ynez Valley Union High School. Jeff’s life journey took him to Santa Barbara, Lake Tahoe, San Jose, Boise, ID, Portland, OR and Hillsboro, OR.
Jeff enjoyed skateboarding, surfing, scouting, tennis, skiing, fishing and all things ocean-related. He loved animals and had numerous pets including snakes, birds, dogs and cats. Jeff was passionate about music. He loved listening to albums and attended concerts frequently. He played drums almost daily. He took up harmonica and dabbled with guitar and piano. Jeff cherished his friends and family and had a big heart for people that were struggling.
Jeff became a Christian in high school and worked at walking with Jesus throughout his life. He recommitted his life to Christ in July 2005 choosing to be baptized in the presence of family and friends. Jeff worshipped at Calvary Chapel in Hillsboro, OR.
Jeff is survived by wife Cenaida “Zee”, father Gary, brother Steve (Kathy), sister Katherine (George) Scarfe, nieces and nephews Chris, David, Alyssa, Alea Minar and Joshua and Evelyn Scarfe, aunt Marilyn Ebert and Uncle Phil (Carole) Goodyear. He was pre-deceased by his mother Barbra. Jeff will also be missed by his step-aunts (Barbra’s stepsisters) Judy Pilsch (Tom), Janet Smith (John) and step-uncles (Gary’s stepbrothers) David (deceased) (Susan), Bill (Marny), George (Judy) and their wonderful families.
Services were held in Hillsboro, OR. Remembrances can be made in Jeff’s name to a youth music program.
