James R, Sims Jr.
James (Jim) Raymond Sims Jr. passed away on December 2nd, 2019, at 83 years of age.
Jim was born on January 23rd, 1936, In Farmersville, California. He was the son of the late James Sims Sr. and Neva Sims.
After completing his tour of duty in the Air Force, Jim enrolled at The College of the Sequoias and earned a degree in radio and electronics. He found his first professional passion as a radio announcer, working at numerous west coast radio stations with the acme of his radio career at KJR Seattle.
Ever passionate about investment, real estate, and finance, Jim switched careers to become a real estate broker serving the Santa Barbara area for 41 years and became the president of the board of Realtors in 1985 and later, regional Vice President of The California Association of Realtors. Jim also taught “Real Estate Practices” and “Real Estate for the Small Investor” at Santa Barbara City College.
With pride and dedication, Jim served on the Board of Directors at Community West Bank in Goleta, California, for 25 years, ending his professional endeavors in 2015.
In his spare time, golf and fishing were his favorite activities. He is survived by his son Michael Sims, daughter in-law Shannon Sims, grandchildren Jon Sims and Valentina Mohoric of Springfield Oregon and numerous friends throughout Santa Barbara.
