Roger Ben Vaughan, age 79, of Vancouver, WA passed away on March 28, 2020 in his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and V. Katheleen (Camper) Vaughan and his sister Linda Marlett. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Sheila Vaughan; three sisters Loretta Cunmingham, Delores “Dee” Millard, and Lynnette Anderson; two children Karen Chidwick and Kevin Vaughan; and four grandchildren Thomas and Ben Chidwick and Austin and Sierra Vaughan-Harris.

Roger was born in Peoria, IL on August 18, 1940. He graduated from Peoria High School in 1959 then enlisted in the Air Force and served in Alaska working on radios, he advanced to an E-4. On June 27, 1965, he married Sheila (Shannon) at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, IL. In 1971 he moved his family to Santa Barbara, CA and lived next door to his sister, Dee for 40 years. He was employed at Delco Electronics for 15 years and retired in 1992. After 45 years in Santa Barbara, he and Sheila moved to Vancouver, Washington to be closer to his family.

Roger was mechanically-minded and enjoyed working with his hands and building things. He was usually working on a project in the garage every weekend and remodeled many parts of his home including his kitchen and both bathrooms and added many touches to his house to make it a home. He also created beautiful outdoor landscaping to complement his home’s exterior. He was very active in his church in Santa Barbara operating the sound and lighting systems, building performance sets and anything else needed to make a wonderful experience for its members. He was very generous with his gifts and time and was always willing to make or do things for other people and often bought and donated the supplies that were needed for the projects. Roger was a gifted photographer and even built a dark room in his garage where he spent numerous hours developing the black and white photos and portraits he took of his family throughout the years.
