Ronald W. Hoban
Our dear friend Ronald W. Hoban died peacefully April 3, 2020. Madonna Hoban, Rons devoted shih tzu, died two days later. Born in Boston, MA on August 10, 1941, Ron was the youngest of seven children. His brother, Michael Hoban, and sister-in-law, Isabel, of Santa Monica survive him.
In 1985 Ron made Santa Barbara his home by way of San Francisco, Aspen and Glenwood Springs, CO, where he co-owned and operated the Glenwood Springs Vapor Caves.
Ron, a former US Marine, was often seen walking with Madonna along Shoreline Park wearing his blue Martha’s Vineyard sweatshirt and NE Patriots hat. He was a true and loyal Boston sports fan. His New England accent and deadpan facial expressions contributed to his dry wit and delivery of numerous jokes. Ron always loved a joke!
He was proud of the personal work he achieved, and the community he formed through EST and The Landmark Forum, an organization he was involved with for over 40 years. A celebration of his life will be held on his birthday, August 10, 2020, at 6:30PM, Shoreline Park.
