Born January 10,1933 in Ventura CA to parents, Hugo Richard Holst and Clara Claberg Holst, died in Santa Barbara on October 6, 2020

Corinne grew up in Ventura, where she attended public schools before entering the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she majored in math. Upon graduation, she returned to Ventura where she married Hugh Renner Gallagher. Soon afterward the couple moved to Santa Paula where they settled down to raise their children Cheryl and Keith. Tragedy struck the family in 1970 when Hugh lost his life in a boating accident.

Aside from during college, Corinne lived her entire life in Ventura County, the last thirty years in Santa Barbara

Her jobs included time at Chevron and H&R Block but most of her career she worked as a self- employed tax preparer.

Always active Corinne enjoyed going for hikes in the wilderness, walks in the neighborhood, reading, cross-word puzzles and perhaps most noteworthy world travel, having visited a wide range of countries.

Some of her talents included tennis, where she successfully competed in tennis tournaments; as a seamstress, and weaver, having sold her weavings at craft fairs.

Over the years ,she developed the knowledge and skills of master gardener, specializing in California Native plants, leaving no part of her garden bare.

Much of her knowledge of plants came from her work at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden where she proudly volunteered for over 25-years.

Survived by brother, Richard Holst, children, Cheryl and Keith, grandchildren, Owen, Percy and Shanti, great granddaughter, Mela, nephews, Eric (Annette) and Carl (Rachel).

Due to the pandemic, the family is postponing a celebration of Corinne’s life until next year.

If desired, a donation in memory of Corinne, can be made to the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
