Suree Gould was born on January 7, 1948 and grew up in Pasadena, California, a self-described hot house plant. In high school, Suree found kindred spirits in the marching band and always remembered those years fondly. She came of age in the sixties, participating in the usual excesses of the time but later found courage, strength and hope in recovery. Suree moved to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB, and like many others, never left. She majored in theater and was involved in children’s theater. She was an avid fan of movies, new and old, and never missed Oscar night. She worked for many years at Cottage Hospital’s residential treatment programs where she shared her compassion and wisdom with many. She later attended Antioch University and earned her Master’s degree in psychology. Suree was extremely knowledgeable and insightful, and shared what she learned, both personally and professionally. Always a cat lover, Suree slowly and patiently earned the trust of a feral cat she found, saving his life and he became her beloved pet. Suree crossed paths with many people in Santa Barbara over the years and she was a good and caring friend who was always there with understanding and support when needed. Suree passed away quietly on November 4, 2020 and she will be greatly missed. She weathered many challenges in her later years; may she now be at peace.
