Clarence “Chuck” Brown
Clarence “Chuck” Brown, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away January 6, 2022 at the age of 94.
Chuck was born August 25, 1927 to Maurice and Lillian Brown. After spending his childhood in Malone, New York, Chuck joined the Navy in 1945. He proudly served as a Sea Bee in the Pacific Theater from 1945-1949.
Chuck met his wife Glenna at a square dance in 1948. Married in 1950, they settled in Santa Barbara and raised their two children. Chuck worked in a variety of jobs in the grocery industry for 40 years. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and cheerful attitude.
In his free time, Chuck was an avid golfer and fisherman. He started the Santa Barbara Channel Fishing Club in 1956, which met for over 60 years. He shared his passion by teaching many generations to fish at Cachuma Lake and off the pier.
Chuck’s Christian faith was the foundation of his life. He had a deep love for the Word of God and was a gifted teacher and encourager. After retirement, Chuck was licensed as a lay pastor and ministered for many years at Santa Barbara First Baptist Church. He spent decades mentoring others in their own faith and was an inspiration to dozens of children and adults. He lived his life to serve others and leaves a lasting godly legacy.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Glenna, daughter Karen (Galen) Tittel, son Keith (Kathy), 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at a later date.
