March 7, 2022

Galen was an exceptional car mechanic by talent and trade and  co-owner and owner of automobile repair shops in Isla Vista, Buellton and Santa Barbara for many years. Galen could be extremely social and made many friends around the world through business, sports and traveling. He touched more lives than can be counted.

After a long courageous battle with cancer, Galen died peacefully on March 7, 2022, in Oklahoma, with his daughter at his side. He was raised in Houston, Texas. His parents, Scott and Betty Mumford, preceded him in death. Galen moved to Santa Barbara, California in  1970 with his first wife, Susie, where their daughter was born.

Galen was a man full of wonder, curiosity and an unwavering sense of adventure. These qualities took him sailing through the Panama Canal and to ports all over the world. His travels included trips to Fiji, Great Britain, Hawaii, and many destinations in Mexico.

Galen was passionate about sports. Watching football was one of his favorites. He loved doing all types of water sports: surfing, water skiing, wake boarding and barefooting! He skied and snowboarded as often as possible with friends at Mammoth Mountain. He and his wife Priscilla drove across the country to five consecutive Super Bowls.

A celebration of Galen’s life will be held at Leadbetter Beach in late Spring. Details to follow.

“Love lives on beyond ‘goodbyes’; The truth of us will never die; Our spirits will shine long after we’re gone; And so the love lives on”
