Marlene Victoria Maxwell
On March 27, 2022 Marlene Victoria Maxwell of Santa Barbara passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends. She endured a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer over the past 18 months and is now at rest.
Marlene called Santa Barbara ‘home’ for over 25 years. She was blessed to have a great support group of caring friends at the Villa La Cumbre Senior Apartments. The ‘knitting club’ was a real pleasure for her.
Marlene was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved permanently to California in her thirties. She held a Bachelor in Arts Degree in Child Development from California State University, Northridge. She had an outstanding career as an educator managing and teaching in Montessori and Pre-Schools in the area. After retiring she launched a second success career as a mobile notary, helping countless clients execute real estate transactions.
Marlene is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Gladys Maxwell. She is survived by her three bothers and their families, Raymond and Joanne Maxwell of Avon NJ, Joseph Maxwell of Wall, NJ and William Maxwell of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her five nieces and nephews, Daniel, Rita, Dawn, Liam and Tara Maxwell.
Marlene loved travel and literally visited and made friends throughout the world from Australia to Ireland. She had a particular interest in Mexico and Latin America. She found her real joy working with children at the First Congregational Church in Santa Barbara where she ran their pre-school during Sunday Services for over 25 years.
Family and friends will gather at the First Congregational Church, 2101 State St. Santa Barbara CA on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm to celebrate and honor her vibrant and full life. For those unable to attend in person, a ZOOM link is available.
