Joan Munn passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2025 at the age of 76 in Santa Barbara, California. Joan was predeceased by her husband Cam Munn in 2019. They were married for 35 years and spent all their years together living in Santa Barbara County.

At a young age, Joan (Hellings) had a passion for horses and quickly became an accomplished rider in the competitive equestrian community of Santa Barbara. Later, as a young adult her interests in nature and spirituality broadened and she became a student of Theosophy at the Krotona Institute in Ojai.

Alongside her husband, they took vacations regularly and often with friends to some of their favorite destinations, including Big Sur, Yosemite, Hawaii and Carmel. Consumed in her world of art, these beautiful places often inspired her artistic works in watercolor, batik, and stained glass, as did her surroundings in Santa Barbara County. Joan always found time and opportunities to share her knowledge, especially with young children. She knew the importance of practicing art as a path for serenity and balance towards meaningful development.

Cam and Joan never had any children, but dearly loved their border collies, Sweeper, and most recently, Rose. They welcomed and committed dearly to their closest friends as their own, treasuring lifelong friendships. Joan is survived by a beloved and cherished group of friends, all who knew her well and for eternity, especially Shelby Arthur and her family, husband Jeff, daughter Remy, and son Easton. The children brought her much joy in the last years of her life.

Anyone wishing to attend Joan’s celebration of life at Nojoqui Falls Park on Saturday, May 17th, may contact Shelby at shelby.n.h.arthur@gmail.com  or see her memorial details at Neptune Society / Joan Munn
