Anne Doering

Anne Doering, long time resident of Santa Barbara passed away in Bellingham, Washington after a brave seven year battle with cancer. Anne grew up in Coronado, the daughter of a Marine Corps Colonel. She was a free sprit, and a world traveller, who visited Europe, Asia, and Central America. She lived, and worked in Germany, teaching the local people the painting skills she had acquired working for her brother, Mike Doering. Anne had wonderful, curious, and an inquisitive mind. She was always interested in learning new ideas, which she then turned into her own words of art in the form of sculptures and original, wearable butterfly wings, which came out more than eager once in the Solstice parade. Anne was kind, gentle and quick to smile at the ironic events she encountered, and to laugh in the face of the absurd situations that life often brings. She was a dear friend to many people here in Santa Barbara and she will be missed.
