City of Death

Santa Barbara

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Kevin Lambe on April 26, 2025. He fought with courage after suffering a stroke in November 2024, but could not overcome the numerous complications and setbacks during his recovery in the following months. He died peacefully in Santa Barbara, surrounded by his loved ones, at age 68. He was preceded in death by both parents and his older sister, and is survived by his wife, Janine, two daughters, Jaclyn and Kimberly, and half-sister, Patricia Dominski.

Michael, known to most as “Mike,” led a life of love, laughter, and adventure. He was born in Long Beach and attended UCLA (Go Bruins!). He moved to Goleta with his wife and worked as a structural engineer until his retirement in 2022.

Mike’s wife of 40 years was the love of his life and his best friend. They made a great team and were very active, often out enjoying one of their many shared hobbies so that they could spend more time together. They loved travel, wine tasting, and hanging out with friends. He constantly showed his love for her in sweet, small gestures like bringing her tea in bed in the morning and holding her hand during their frequent walks along the beach. He wore his heart on his sleeve, and she never had to question how much he cared about her.

He was a dedicated and fun-loving dad, always going the extra mile to get a laugh from his daughters. He was unconditionally supportive, whether he was harassing them out of bed in the mornings, prepping school lunches, transporting them to school and various activities, coaching soccer teams, helping them move into dorms and apartments well into their adulthood, giving advice, or acting as an on-call handyman for minor household emergencies.

Mike was known personally and professionally to be hardworking, reliable, and honest. He was a problem solver but also knew how to be a good listener. Many of Mike’s friendships were decades old, which is a real testament to the all-around good guy and loyal friend he was. He was also a model son and had a very close relationship with his mom. In her twilight years, he spent time with her nearly every day until she passed.

An avid hiker, Mike loved to explore the Santa Barbara mountains equipped with his trusty fanny pack. He would always report back with video evidence of any snakes and water features he came across. A true BBQ grill master, he delighted in cooking and bringing everyone together. He also regularly enjoyed reading mystery thrillers, singing along to classic rock, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.

His family and friends will carry forward many happy memories and inside jokes, and his playful spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
