James “Jim” Eric Anderson
James “Jim” Eric Anderson, 80, passed away on April 27, 2025. Born in Pasadena, California, Jim was the son of Barbara “Granny” Anderson and Elwood “Papa Andy” Anderson. From a young age, he exhibited a vibrant personality that would become his hallmark—funny, charismatic, outgoing and fearless.
Jim served his country as a Vietnam veteran. His time in the military, as crazy as it was, resulted in life-long friendships that he spoke about often.
After returning home, Jim cultivated a lifelong passion for gardening and landscaping. A master gardener and landscape designer, he found joy and purpose in transforming outdoor spaces into places of beauty and peace. His garden was not only a sanctuary for himself but also a source of inspiration for those around him. Whether manicuring existing gardens or designing intricate landscapes, Jim’s creativity flourished in the soil he so lovingly tended.
Beyond his green thumb, Jim had a profound love for coaching. He cherished the time spent mentoring young athletes and held fond memories of all his former players. His influence extended far beyond the field; he inspired confidence, discipline, and camaraderie in those he coached.
Above all else, Jim loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife Janet Anderson of 47 years; daughters Keely and Lisa (Scott); son Christopher; grandchildren Erica, Brian (Paige), Jenna, Tristan, Hayden, and Ella; great-grandchildren Austin and Charlie; and brothers Norm and Dave. Each of them carries forward his legacy of warmth and humor.
Jim’s presence brought laughter to every room (even if it was him laughing at his own jokes), and comfort to every heart. His memory will continue to bloom in the gardens he nurtured and in the lives of those who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him
