Robert (Bob) Anthony Seiler, age 76, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025. Born on February 3, 1949, Bob lived the majority of his full and active life in Santa Barbara, CA. He grew up in the eccentric and rugged town of Eureka, CA where he and his 4 siblings shared wild adventures.

As a child, Bob stayed busy in school with extracurricular activities such as football, basketball, and track and field. He was a natural athlete who took pride in his achievements and often told stories about his athletic feats when he was older. After graduating from the University of Washington, Bob moved to Santa Barbara where he met his soon to be wife, Janet. Their first date was of course tennis. They had 5 fun filled years together and then expanded their family with the birth of their son David, followed by their daughter Virginia.

Bob had a successful career as a salesman in the food service industry, most recently at Jordano’s where he was known for his dedication and friendly demeanor. Beyond his professional life, Bob was passionate about sports and the outdoors. He loved tennis, pickleball, biking, surfing, kayaking, golfing, fishing, paddleboarding, and gardening—especially growing his prized tomatoes every year. Of course all of these activities made him hungry and he knew a good meal if he saw one! He particularly enjoyed desserts, especially those that involved chocolate.

Even with all of his hobbies, Bob also made time for his family. Some of their favorite memories together included camping trips, gardening projects and badminton in the backyard every summer. In his later years, Bob and his wife Janet could be found walking on the beach or playing backgammon in the late afternoon.

A loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather, Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Janet Olsen Seiler; his sister, Teresa Seiler; his children and their spouses, David and Deni Seiler, and Virginia and Greg Sun; and his grandchildren, Devin Seiler, Anden Seiler, Vienna Sun, and Everett Sun. His family was very important to him, and they will always appreciate his easy going nature and his enthusiasm for adventure.

Bob will be remembered for his active spirit, tireless work ethic, and the way he embraced life with joy and laughter. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, neighbors and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Celebration of his Life will be planned for July. In his memory, please consider donating to the Santa Barbara Friendship Center, 89 Eucalyptus Lane, Santa Barbara CA 93108.
