In 1969 he met Pamela Jameson of Montecito in London who was vacationing in Great Britain with her mother. Juergen attended Graduate School at UCSB where he earned a Secondary Teaching Credential and a Masters in European History. He taught in Santa Ynez and in Redding as well as locally in public and private schools. He left his teaching in order to be better able to manage some family properties and to run a family business, “Adobe Antiques” on Anacapa Street. He also took a position on an evening shift at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital from which he retired in 2006.

Having been an active Social Democrat in Germany, Juergen became active in local Democratic Party politics as well as local German groups. He also became a collector of political memorabilia as a member of the American Political Items Collectors. He served on the board and as president of the Miramar Beach Homeowners Association.

Those left to mourn his loss are his wife Pamela; two sons Todd and Craig; daughter-in-law Patricia; and three grandsons Bennett, Ellis, and Brooks.

While his family will privately celebrate Juergen’s life and mourn his passing, they will appreciate any gifts in his honor be made to The Santa Barbara High School Alumni Association, Class of 1959 Perpetual Scholarship, PO Box 6121, Santa Barbara, California 93160.
