Lupe (Ortiz) Luera

Lupe (Ortiz) Luera passed away suddenly on November 22, 2025. Lupe was born and raised in Santa Barbara until she met her husband, Frank. They lived in Carpinteria raising their family.

She was artistic, compassionate, loving, loved animals, listened to many without judgment, she was patient, loved watching her sports on tv, giving, always there for others, helped when she could, a great sense of humor, subtle and stubborn too , loved fashion, and most of all her Faith and belief in Jesus.

There are many stories of making tamales with family and friends, camping, barbecues at Oak Park with family, casino trips, craft fairs, art classes, the exciting up & downs of raising two sons and a daughter. She made sure that we were taken care of and that we treated others on how we wanted to be treated. She loved her family & friends deeply.

She is survived by her son, Johnny (Julie) and her daughter Rebecca (Kevin). She is proceeded in death by her loving husband Frank and her eldest son Steven. She has 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed.

Services will be Jan. 9th at St. Jospeh Church in Carpinteria, CA at 1:30pm. Reception to follow burial services.
