Brandon Jeffrey Benavidez
It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Brandon Jeffrey Benavidez, lovingly known as “Jeff,” 69, on April 18, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Jeff was born on November 12, 1956, to Ignacio and Shelby Benavidez in Santa Barbara, CA, and was currently residing in Oxnard, CA, with his wife, Vera Benavidez.
Jeff and Vera shared 46 years together, including 44 years of a beautiful marriage. He was a devoted and proud father to Anthony, Antonette, and Arika, as well as a loving and dedicated grandfather to Brandon, Ryan-Madison, Ruby, and Johnnie. Jeff’s family was his absolute pride and joy.
Jeff served in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1979 traveling aboard the USS Cook (FF-1083). Following his honorable discharge, he quickly became a distinguished mechanic at Carpinteria Motor Transport and began building his family. His lifelong career included 7 years at T&T Truck & Crane Service as a crane mechanic, 5 years at Pump Services as an Irrigation Engine Mechanic, and 20 years with ILWU Local 46 as a Longshore Mechanic, along with many other mechanical roles over the decades.
In his final years while retired, Jeff enjoyed long, quiet mornings drinking coffee with his wife, Vera, building classic custom vehicles at home, and traveling in their RV to car shows, where they made many great friends and won many beautiful awards. Jeff made sure to spend much of his time with his family, eating delicious food, laughing with his contagious laugh, and enjoying every moment.
Jeff will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving man whose gentle nature and warmth will remain with all who knew and loved him.
“Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin’
Love for the father and the son”.
