Harm Meijer, Jr. died peacefully in his sleep May 1, 2026. Born May 17, 1944, in Berg en Dal, Netherlands, he was the 6th of 8 children born to Harm and Trijntje Meijer. In 1957, the family migrated to the U.S., settling in Cleveland Heights, OH, of which Harm was not a fan. In 1961, they moved to Santa Barbara, which he called paradise. He met his future wife Becky Cavalletto that year working at the Copper Coffee Pot. He graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1963, then Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1967. He and Becky married in December 1967.

Working with Kaiser Aluminum and then Sambo’s and Carrow’s, they lived all over California in Oakland, Santa Maria, and Bakersfield. They eventually settled in Santa Barbara, welcoming daughter, Allysen, and later their great-nephew, Anthony, into the family.

After Carrow’s, Harm bought Flying Pizza, where he and Becky worked for many years. He used to take Allysen with him on deliveries, and let her keep the tips! After that, he ran the hot dog cart in Paseo Nuevo and a coffee shop next door. In 2000, he changed careers and bought what would become Meijer Water Conditioning. In recent years Anthony was his right- hand man.

Harm loved working with people and never met a stranger. He touched so many lives. He is missed every day by his beloved children and his loving wife of 58 years.

Becky, Allysen, and Anthony invite you to a celebration of Harm’s life at Mulligan’s Café on Thursday, May 21st from 11:30-2:30. Bring your stories.
