Alison Priya Strieker

1975-2026

Alison (Ali) was the cherished daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many around the world. Her youth was spent in Nairobi, Kenya, and Santa Barbara, Ca. Her studies, travels, and work took her around the USA and to East Africa, Mexico, Canada, and Europe.

Ali was a Renaissance Woman. Her experiences, connections with people, and evolving interests fed her insatiable hunger for life. She was multi-talented and inquisitive. She studied at the International School of Kenya, and graduated from Santa Barbara High and SB City College. She had been a nanny in France, licensed cosmetologist, watercolor and makeup artist, retail employee and manager, a natural foods salesperson, and a senior living facility receptionist.

Ali was curious, wise, creative, and artistic. She wrote brilliantly from her gentle heart. She was sensitive, spiritual, and sweet. She was playful, perceptive, and passionate. She had a free spirit and a unique sense of humor. She saw and created beauty everywhere. She was courageous, sometimes spikey, and always caring.

She embraced nature, all animals, beaches, travel, diverse cultures, family, and close friends. Art, music, films, hiking, and explorations were her favorite pastimes. She treated all people as valuable beings, worthy of respect, regardless of their life situation, age, attributes, identifications, and backgrounds.

Alison is survived and deeply missed by her mother Phyllis Brady and step-father Andrew Masters of Santa Barbara, twin sister Rachel Strieker Hedges of Santa Ynez, sister Lindsay Strieker of Solana Beach, nieces Sophia Hurley and Grace Hurley (Caleb Owens), nephew Strieker Hedges, Uncle Bill Brady, Aunts Gwen Strieker, Carol Tozer, Tina Boradiansky, and Erena Lall, her partner Tony Lamantia, her devoted friend and kidney donor Rex Rude Saiz, many cousins throughout the US, Canada, and Africa, and friends worldwide. Alison was pre-deceased by her father Gary G. Strieker, her uncle Reid Strieker, her aunt Carolyn (Lyn) Brady, her cousin-brother Jordan Smith, and her fur baby Leshebo.

On May 20, 1975, Alison (Ali) came into the world early, along with her twin sister, in Nairobi, Kenya. She also departed early on January 10, 2026, in Santa Barbara, Ca. She died of a sudden cardiac arrest, resulting from Lupus Nephritis, and three decades of interrelated medical conditions and treatments.

Contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation, or an organization of your choice, in honor of Alison Strieker.

Alison’s East Indian godfather gave her the Hindi middle name, Priya. It means beloved, dear. And that she remains.

A Celebration of Alison Priya Strieker’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Noon, outdoors at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum.
