Elaine Ann Vercota

The sixth of eight children of Stanley and Catherine Tello.

She spent her entire life in Santa Barbara. Graduating from Santa Barbara High, she met the love of her life in 1958, John Vercota who had just returned from duty with the air force. They were married in 1959 at Our Lady of Guadalupe and settled on the Mesa where they spent their entire lives together.

She was employed by Santa Barbara City Schools in Food Service for 25 years. Upon her retirement, she volunteered at Catholic Charities Food Pantry, a job she enjoyed very much.

Gardening was her passion and she spent many hours tending to her plants. She loved to travel and spent many years traveling to foreign countries. Her favorite destination was Bora Bora island and Jamaica. She was a happy and joyful soul until Alzheimer’s disease over took her and she was confined to bed where she passed in her sleep May 21st.

She will be sorely missed. She is survived by her loving husband John of 67 years. Son Fred and Frances and daughter Denise, grand children Jessica, Troy and John. Sisters Audrey , Renee and Linda.
