Christopher Hogarth Miller

Date of Death

Chris transitioned at the end of March to set sail on his greatest adventure yet. A true Renaissance man, Chris had a life filled with rich and widely diverse experiences. He graduated from the New England Culinary Institute and worked as a chef, a licensed sea captain, a photographer, and a carpenter. He was a beloved man who regaled us with his colorful stories and clever sense of humor. From his roots in Ohio and Maine to his sailing voyages in the Caribbean and his chosen home of Santa Barbara, he drew people in with his talents, charm, wit, and love of life.

He joins his father Gerard, and his two younger brothers, Andrew and Peter, on the other side of the veil. Chris is survived by his mother, Nan Miller; his sister, Natalie (Tim) Miller; his brother, Gerry (Kathy) Miller; his brother Bruce (Teri) Olsen; and his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, along with a wide circle of friends whose lives were forever changed by his presence.

A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at Manning Park, 449 San Ysidro Road, Area 2, in Montecito, California, on Saturday, September 12, from 2–5 PM. In his honor, we are planning a potluck BBQ. Please join us to share food and stories with family and friends.

The Miller family has created an email address, chmillermemories@gmail.com, where photos and memories of Chris can be shared with his mother, Nan.
