Geonine Scott – Moriarty
1941-2026
Geonine Scott-Moriarty passed away on August 17, 2026 at Saint John’s Hospital in Los Angeles due to complications from surgery. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Nadine Barlett, her husband, Kerry Moriarty, her granddaughter Zohn Mandel and a several Mooney cousins in Colorado.
Geonine was born in Oakland California to George and Nellie Mooney. She had 2 siblings, Frank and Nadine Mooney who both passed previously. Geonine attended Los Angeles High School where she met and married her beau, Donald E. Bartlett and had their daughter Nadine.
Shortly after graduating from High School Geonine started her modeling career, which included television roles and magazine advertisements. This work allowed her to meet many celebrities and business luminaries related to the entertainment industry, including her second husband M.B. Scott. The couple made their home in Beverly Hills until moving to their expansive estate in Montecito in the early 1980’s.
Upon arriving in Montecito she quickly became active in several local charities, including a stint as president of Girls Inc. Geonine was renowned for her grand fundraising galas held at her East Valley Road estate. She dedicated significant fundraising efforts for St. Jude Childrens Hospital over the years – her favorite cause. A lover of animals, Geonine also worked with actress Bo Derek in various animal protection causes while becoming lifelong friends. During this time, Geonine also became active in national politics, which was a passion of hers. She was a big fan of radio host Rush Limbaugh and the two became close friends after she hosted a fundraiser for him.
Years after her marriage to Scott, Kerry and Geonine met fortuitously in Montecito at a St. Patrick’s Day party and hit it off instantly. Kerry considered it the “luck of the Irish” and their life together began. Kerry always claimed she was one of the most beautiful women in the world. A former Notre Dame football player, Kerry introduced her to the world of sports. Although she was obliged to root for Notre Dame, she typically rooted for teams with the best uniforms.
Geonine lived a glamorous and adventurous life. She had an inquisitive mind and loving heart. She found everyone interesting and always saw the positive in them. She loved beautiful surroundings, interesting people and close friends and family. She had a special place in her heart for her dear friends Michael and Angie Ferraro. She adored her husband Kerry and fully supported him in all his ventures. She will be forever in our hearts and her stories we shall continue to tell.
