Britta Gabrielle Ryan
On March 2, 1970, Britta was born. It was a panic; her father ran a red light to hasten the journey to the hospital. After dropping her mother at Emergency, parking the car and running to Registration, Britta was already born.
Britta Gabrielle Ryan was born at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara to Robert and Deanna Ryan and a brother Daniel Ryan. The family moved to San Luis Obispo in 1974 where Daniel and Britta attended schools and graduated from San Luis High.
Britta developed ‘spunk’, probably from her deep personal beliefs and values. A memorable episode occurred at a psych-doctor’s office, with her parents attending, when Britta stormed out of his office and headed down the street. He stood up, in his three-piece suit and didn’t know what to do! Also, she has questioned the actions of police officers, face to face, when her friends were involved.
After High School, Britta attended Cuesta College and then, Cabrillo while living in Santa Cruz and Bonny Doon and then San Francisco State University.
In 1996 Britta graduated from the Natural Gourmet Institute of Food and Health in New York City. She worked her way out West, through North Carolina, to Santa Fe, working in various restaurants, gaining experience and most importantly, discovering her life-long friends.
Back in California, Britta’s zest for adventure (and employment), landed her in the galleys of various luxury yachts; Alaska in the summer, Mexico in the winter. She met her future husband while onshore in Craig, Alaska. On a subsequent return voyage, Britta married Jonathan in a “Pirate Ceremony” aboard ship. They eventually settled in Carpinteria, CA. as Jonathan and Britta Malindine. They gave birth to Dahlia Malindine in 2011.
Jonathan pursued his goal of a PHD in Anthropology at UCSB while Britta worked as a Professional Chef for a growing family, which endured for nearly two decades, until her unfortunate, brain tumor diagnosis and her passing, at The Serenity House on October 3, 2026. This leaves a huge and sad void with her immediate family, as well as her loyal and dedicated client family and many life-long, loyal friendships. “Our Girl” Britta was a beautiful soul, in many respects.
