Westmont Grad Appointed for Bush Job

Will Oversee Faith-Based Initiatives

Jedd Medefind, a 1997 graduate of Westmont College, was named special assistant to President George W. Bush and deputy director of the U.S. Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Medefind was previously working as the director of the Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives at the Department of Labor and before that worked as the chief of staff for Assemblyman Tim Leslie.

Medefind, who earned a Golden Eagle scholar-athlete award in 1996 as well as a Ring Award while on the basketball team at Westmont, received bachelor’s degrees in communication studies and economics and business. He also won Westmont’s 1997 Passion and Civility Debate.

He has also co-authored two books, Four Souls: A Search for Epic Life and The Revolutionary Communicator.
