Seelbach Cocktail

It’s practically New Year’s Eve and simple champagne won’t do; you need something with a bit more elan and oomph. Enter the Seelbach Cocktail from a hotel of the same name in Louisville, Kentucky, via Ted Haigh, aka Dr. Cocktail’s handy Vintage Spirits & Forgotten Cocktails. Pour an ounce of bourbon, a ½ ounce of Cointreau, and seven dashes each of Peychaud’s and Angostura bitters into a champagne flute. Stir. Top with bubbly, stir again (gently or you’ll have a fizzy mess), and garnish with an orange twist. The upcoming year suddenly seems deeper and more profound and possible.
