Supes Vote to Raise Parking Fees Only at Cachuma and Jalama

Though the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors voted October 16 to raise day-use fees at Cachuma Lake and Jalama Beach county parks as well as to raise group picnic-area fees at all other county parks, what they didn’t do was the hot topic of the day.

Santa Barbara Symphony

In the midst of all the justifiable excitement over the upcoming move from the Arlington to the Granada, it would be a pity to lose sight of the most compelling musical storyline currently involving the Santa Barbara Symphony: the accession to power of new maestro Nir Kabaretti. Ed Diamond on The Singing bee

When it comes to Hollywood, Santa Barbara soul singer Ed Diamond is immersed in it on a daily basis. Union Officials Still Await Agreement with County

The Hero and The Victor Celebrate

Since forming The Hero and The Victor more than five years ago, Gabriel Clark (guitar, vocals), David Mendoza (guitar, vocals), Tyler Hegner (bass, vocals), and newcomer Brad Reeves (drums) have collectively earned a name for themselves as one of Santa Barbara’s most hard-working, hard-rocking, and thoroughly talented musical outfits. Combining in-your-face vocals with complex instrumental soundscapes, the foursome gained plenty of well-deserved buzz outside their beachfront homestead with 2005’s full-length debut, The Villainy of the Ordinary.

The Gargoyle Gourmand

My family’s Halloween meal was a miserable loose meat abomination called the spoon burger, blander than Lawrence Welk. Hoping for better traditions for the future, I’ve experimented unceasingly to create a dish that embraced my past horrors with something more seasonable on the table. Halloween, after all, equals horror and nice fall treats.
