Take a Tour

Thu Feb 07, 2008 | 06:00am

The S.B. Maritime Museum offers docent-guided tours with rotating themes every Saturday, offering a unique opportunity to learn more about maritime heritage.

Learn about the lives of the ancient and present-day seaside-dwelling Chumash, find out more about the early explorers who stopped in Santa Barbara, or discover the history of seal, otter, and whale hunting off the Central Coast. Meet at the admission desk at 2 p.m. for your tour, which is included in the price of museum admission.

While you’re at the Museum, check out the cool shipwreck exhibits, try to “catch a big one” in the sports fishing simulator, and learn about survival at sea. The Maritime Museum is located at 113 Harbor Way, #190, Santa Barbara Harbor. Call 962-8404 x115 or visit the Web site at sbmm.org for more info.
