Some folks like it raw. Those who do, or want to know more about one of the food ideas sweeping the country, might want to check out the Raw Spirit Festival at Live Oak Camp, taking place June 5-7 (rawspiritfest.com or [928] 776-1497). Raw Spirit Festival bills itself “an expanding network of the world’s leading vibrant vegan, healthy-living, eco-peace festivals for charitable, educational, and inspirational purposes.” This event features main stage events like Dr. Jameth lecturing on Raw Foods 101, 202, and 303, music by the likes of Fun Young Moon, food demos, sacred exercise, a children’s program (that’s more a family program, btw), and interactive playshops (much more fun than workshops) like Katrina Blair discussing Wild Edible Plants-Our Great Natural Resource followed by an herb walk. Singing Bear, one of the scheduled performers who dubs himself a mystical musical alchemist, calls the festival a “totally crazy, unbelievably high vibrational time of your life. You will never feel more happy, healthy, and energized. I guarantee you that the energy of this festival will scoop you off your feet, no matter how heavy and down-trodden they are, and grant you the gift of gossamer wings.”
