The Santa Barbara County Fire Department has issued a statement reminding residents that all fireworks – including so-called “safe and sane” varieties – are illegal in all areas of the county. Instead of creating private Independence Day fireworks shows, citizens are instead asked view the professional public fireworks displays being held in Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Solvang.
Fire Chief Tom Franklin warned of the considerable danger associated with illegal fireworks. July 4 revelers should respect safety barriers and be wary of any unexploded fireworks, he said.
