Go Red for Women Luncheon

Mon Mar 01, 2010 | 06:00am

According to an article published by the Mayo Clinic, “Although heart disease is often thought of as a problem for men, more women than men die of heart disease each year.” To bring awareness to this far too common disease, the American Heart Association’s Santa Barbara Go Red for Women is having a luncheon where free on-site echocardiograms (echo) will be offered to attendees. An echo uses ultrasound to produce a 3-D image that assesses heart valves and function, such as velocity of blood flow and cardiac tissue. Cardiologist Dr. Joseph Aragon will perform the tests. The event is Friday, March 5, at Fess Parker’s DoubleTree Resort (633 E. Cabrillo Blvd.). For more information, call Stacie Irish at 963-8862.
