Montecito House Fire Contained

Blaze Extinguished in 20 Minutes; Cause Still Under Investigation

A 500-square-foot guest house in Montecito caught fire Wednesday morning, causing $125,000 in damage.

The Montecito Fire Protection District, along with Carpinteria-Summerland Fire and Santa Barbara City Fire, responded to the blaze and put it out within 20 minutes. There were no occupants in the house and the fire didn’t spread to the main residence at 2395 Bella Vista Road.

A firefighter sprained his ankle responding to the fire, which is still under investigation. A resident of the home had called dispatch.
