BlackMahal is a San Francisco-based music group known for its eclectic blend of hip-hop, funk, and Punjabi music. Members of the nine-piece ensemble have called BlackMahal’s one-of-a-kind, genre-transcending sounds “Punjabi funk hop” and “turban grooves”; Rolling Stone simply calls the band’s sound “awesome.” UCSB’s MultiCultural Center presents An Evening of TurbanGrooves by BlackMahal, featuring frontman Ustad Lal Singh Bhatti, this Saturday, November 5, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5-$15. Call 893-2064 for more info.
