THE MOAB INDEPENDENT? Over spring break, the Dusette, Stormo, Pfeifer, and Nelson families from Santa Barbara embarked on a 100-mile mountain-bike ride on the White Rim Trail in Moab, Utah, and had to take turns reading The Santa Barbara Independent while at the White Crack campsite (above). “We love The Independent and are always anxious for that Thursday paper,” said Kathy Pfeifer. “Our favorite reads are News of the Week (the only reliable paper for local news in S.B.!), Angry Poodle (of course!), the calendar section (what to do in S.B.!), and Starshine’s hilariously insightful write-ups (especially since all us families can relate with her satirical parenthood episodes!).” Hopefully there was no reading while biking!
