A jack-knifed semi-truck on Highway 101 southbound between the Castillo and Garden Street exits closed the freeway’s southbound lanes for half an hour Tuesday morning around 7:30 a.m., according to a city press release. First responders reported no injuries, but said the semi “sustained damage to its saddle tank, which resulted in a fuel leak that firefighters had to mitigate prior to opening the highway.” Although the cause of the accident is unknown, the city’s press release cited heavy rains in the area at the time of the crash.
