Redesign of Protected Marine Areas Hits Snag

Besieged with controversy and conflicting opinions since the process first began in 2008, the Marine Life Protection Act’s mandated redesign of marine protected areas along the coast of Southern California, from Pt. Conception to the Mexican border, has hit another potential snag as it readies to become a reality.

New Candidates Vie for School Board Seats

In other Santa Barbara School Board news, with incumbent Kate Parker already announcing that she will seek reelection for a second term on the board and Bob Noël giving word that he will not, Santa Barbara-based former construction company executive Loren Mason officially threw his hat in the ring this week for one of the two seats up for grabs.
