SBIFF Coup

One thing’s for certain: Santa Barbara is a perfect town for premiering blockbuster movies. We’ve got the bright lights, the fancy main drag, the cinematic history, the star-studded populace, and the nightlife to make trips up here from Hollywood well worth the drive. What’s not certain is why it’s taken so long for that notion to become a reality.

The Hard to Find to Close

Word hit the streets today that November 8 will be the last hoorah for The Hard to Find Showspace, out in Goleta. (And with the billed act being San Jose/Seattle’s Xiu Xiu, it’ll be quite a send-off.)
As one of the only all-ages venues currently existing on the South Coast, it will be sorely missed. Owner Josh Eymann provided a thoughtful note as to why in his sayonara email, and we are trying to get his permission right now to post it here.

White Trash Party to Benefit Planned Parenthood

This Saturday and Sunday, September 2 and 3, there’s a big bash going down this weekend on a ranch outside Carpinteria, with proceeds going to Planned Parenthood. Digital Underground Hits SOhO

In the hit ‘n’ miss game that is live rap, Oakland’s innovators Digital Underground happily delivered an entertaining concert on Sunday night with their trademark fun-loving, positive, nontraditional hip-hop.
