Hopefully that headline gets some more people to send us answers
to these questions. We’re giving away free stuff, Santa Barbara, so
why don’t you make some educated guesses and send them to freestuff@independent.com.
We’ve been giving away free meals at restaurants all over town, and
only a handful of folks are taking advantage. Here are this week’s
questions, from the Issue #4, December 24, 1986.

1) Who, billed as “America’s Hottest Comedian,”
played the Arlington on New Year’s Eve, 1986? (He’s still doing
just fine.)

2) Which still-thriving arts organization that
once hosted a performance piece under the Butterfly Lane underpass,
starring Bill Anderson, Richard Dunlap, Richard Ross, and Timothy
Tindall celebrated its 10th anniversary in 1986?

3) On September 8, 1986, about 100 union employees were
“replaced”
by unpaid workers, resulting in a major legal
suit against the people who supplied the workers. Name the
institution sued by the union.

Good luck and happy holidays!
