Looking to get outside this weekend? Join Channel Islands Restoration this Sunday morning and help defend our native plants from encroaching weeds!

A few months ago, the Cave Fire burned through Channel Islands Restoration’s habitat restoration site at the San Marcos Foothills Preserve. The native plants are regrowing, but not nearly as fast as the weeds surrounding them. Channel Islands Restoration (CIR) needs your help in pulling out these weeds so that our native habitat can recover. If we can’t clear the weeds around our native plants, they may not survive.

Join CIR on Sunday, March 8th to defend our native plants from encroaching invasive weeds! We’ll meet along Cieneguitas Rd at 9 am and take a short walk to the work site from there. We’ll work until 1:45 (with a lunch break around noon), and then head back. You can leave early if need be.

We’ll be working to remove invasive plants like black mustard, sweet fennel, castor bean, and more. Wear long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes. Be sure to bring sun protection and a lunch as well!

RSVPs are not required but greatly appreciated because it helps us keep track of how many people are coming. Thank you!
