Above & Below Dance with Marcelino

Marcelino is our Minister of Music this Sunday!  He says, “I’m feeling inspired by the seasonal transition from summer into fall. The power of summer is ebbing, but still somewhat present, and the coolness of fall is arriving, making its presence known.

Minister of Music Marcelino provides musical journeys for personal transformation, healing, and empowerment. Funky, shamanic, devotional, deep, upbeat, with absolutely sublime chaos in the mix: he plays “international liberation” music drawn from a wide range of genres from around the globe.  He seeks out emotionally rich, energetic, spiritually expansive dance music that will invoke, uplift, and move us to transcendental peaks and into deep inner valleys.  His sets are energetic, expansive, heart-opening, and fantastic.  The music is the medicine and our movement is the journey!

What I love about ecstatic dance is the opportunity to transport dancers beyond themselves on a journey that expands through many realms in one complete experience.  For me, ecstatic dance is about allowing your body to move you through whatever it is that is moving through you, with the music serving as somatic medicine for ecstatic awakenings. Through our dance journey we shall discover, reclaim, and embody our unique gifts and powers in beloved community.”
