The Multi-literacy English Transfer program at SBCC is proud to host a conversation and book signing with Tommy Orange, award-winning author of the novel There There.
This event is free and open to the public. Please plan to arrive early on April 22 to register at a check-in table. Masks are required to enter all SBCC facilities, including the Fé Bland Forum in the BC building.
Non-SBCC students, faculty, or staff will need to have proof of full vaccination (primary series) or a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or 3 days of the event.
Tommy Orange is the author of the New York Times bestselling novel There There, a multi-generational, relentlessly paced story about a side of America few of us have ever seen: the lives of urban Native Americans. There was one of The New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Books of the Year and won the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize and the Pen/Hemingway Award. There was also longlisted for the National Book Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Tommy Orange is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. He was born and raised in Oakland, California.
