The next Blue Whale Reading featuring Susan Chiavelli and Isabelle Walker will be on Wednesday, March 12, 5:30 – 7 pm at Unity of Santa Barbara, 227 E. Arrellaga St. The featured readers will be followed by a limited open mic reading. The hosts for the evening are Laure-Anne Bosselaar and Christine Kravetz.
Susan Chiavelli writes short stories, creative nonfiction and poetry. Her work is forthcoming or has appeared in The Los Angeles Review, Miramar, The Packinghouse Review, The Louisville Review, bosque, New Millennium Writings, Minnetonka Review, Other Voices, 580 Split, Rattle, Askew, the poetry anthologies Buzz and Rare Feathers, and elsewhere. Several of her stories have been performed on stage by Speaking of Stories. She coedited More Letters from the Heart: words of wisdom from exceptional women and girls.
Isabelle Walker is a Santa Barbara based-poet and teacher with a special interest in the natural world and recovery. Her poem about the January 2018 Montecito debris flow won first prize in Seven Hills Review’s 2018 Literary & Penumbra Poetry Contest. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles. She also writes for the Santa Barbara Independent.
