Learn how versatile the humble bean can be! Packed with plant-based protein, fiber, and nutrients that support gut health and digestion, heirloom beans are as nourishing as they are flavorful. In this hands-on class, we’ll source a variety of fresh and dried beans from Two Peas in a Pod Farm, a beloved family-owned and operated local farm in Gaviota and a staple at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market. You’ll learn how to select, soak, cook, and season a variety of unique heirloom beans while exploring their incredible versatility in soups, salads, and side dishes. At the end of class, we’ll sit down to enjoy this delicious meal together.

Whether you’re looking to eat more plant-based meals, improve your digestive health, or simply expand your culinary repertoire, you’ll leave with practical techniques, try-at-home recipes, and a newfound appreciation for the humble bean!

On the menu:

  • Rustic Heirloom Bean Stew with Seasonal Vegetables
