Over the years, Inside Wine Santa Barbara has lived up to its name by finding “insider’s” winemakers who haven’t made it big time yet, but are destined to do so! Join us on Saturday May 13th for a very special “Vineyard 101” lesson on terroir with a winemaker who is also a 3rd generation vineyard manager. We’ll examine the fossil-filled soil, understand how topography and climate interact in characterizing terroir, hear which factors are important in establishing and successfully maintaining a vineyard. This educational experience is followed with a picnic and wine tasting.

Winemaker Fidencio Flores is the third generation of his family in the wine business. His grandfather Salvador Zepeda was the first to cultivate grapes for Firestone and his father Armando Zepeda planted the first Buttonwood vines. Fidencio not only grows the grapes for Esfuerzo and makes the wine, but also manages a number of award-winning vineyards across Santa Ynez Valley, Sta. Rita Hills AVA, and San Luis Obispo County.

Picnic lunch and wine tasting included. Inside Wine Santa Barbara is a not-for-profit Meetup group devoted to learning more about winemaking and making new friends. Anyone 21+ years old can join us. Cost is $50. NO tickets at the door, please reserve your spot on our Meetup page: www.meetup.com/inside-wine-santa-barbara RSVPs will close 2 days before the event. See the link above for more details and click on “Past Events” to see all the fun and educational events we have organized in the last 10 years. Ticket holders will receive directions and access code.
