Music is the Dancer with Marcelino!

       Marcelino is our Minister of Music this Sunday. He says, “I’m feeling inspired by the power music has to move us to evolve in life. Music is Spirit. Dance is Life. When we dance our spirit receives a connection to primal energy, spirit, and truth and through it we become more ourselves.

I weave together music that creates a journey where the opportunity for physical expression, personal evolution, community consciousness, spiritual awakening, and cathartic healing is available. As a DJ, I experience music as an ever-unfolding river where there is always newness rising at the leading edge. I enjoy tapping into that stream and drawing forth music that captures the spirit of our age and moves us through the turbulence of our times. For this reason, my sets ride through a wide range of genres, tempos, and feelings; and I’m always seeking for fresh territories to explore.

I treasure ecstatic dance because I see us bringing into the world great joy, kindness, authenticity, praise, healing, love, and unity through our communal dance. By allowing in these ecstatic experiences, through our somatic being, we are co-creating a positive radiance that our world desperately needs, and so our dance serves as a fantastic prayer for humanity as well.”

Minister of Music Marcelino provides musical journeys for personal transformation, healing, and empowerment. Funky, shamanic, devotional, deep, upbeat, with absolutely sublime chaos in the mix: he plays “international liberation” music drawn from a wide range of genres from around the globe.  He seeks out emotionally rich, energetic, spiritually expansive dance music that will invoke, uplift, and move us to transcendental peaks and into deep inner valleys.  His sets are energetic, expansive, heart-opening, and fantastic.  The music is the medicine and our movement is the journey!  Marcelino also hosts The Rhythms of Life a weekly, Wednesday night 7:30pm to 9pm, ecstatic dance held at the Santa Barbara Dance Center.
