The Wildling Museum of Art and Nature is pleased to announce an upcoming workshop with Central Coast photographer Nic Stover on Sunday, January 30, 2021, 2 – 4:30 p.m. Stover will lead a photography critique and image review session designed for photographers of all skill levels looking to improve their editing skills and take their work to the next level.

“In this session, class participants will see how the most impactful and compelling images are the those that have the proper balance of technique, vision, and processing,” says Nic Stover. “All of these skills need to be developed and continually refined through our own artistic and creative processes.”

Skills covered in the class will help attendees learn to evaluate images for creating or building upon a portfolio and will also cover simple ways to correct minor distractions in post-processing to give participants greater confidence in expressing their creativity in new ways.

“We are delighted to be able to offer this class with acclaimed local photographer Nic Stover,” says Wildling Museum Executive Director Stacey Otte-Demangate. “We hope that our Sharing the Light exhibition is inspiring visitors to dive into their own photography and Nic will be able to offer them great pointers about how to take their work to the next level.”

The first half of the class will explore some of the essential concepts of composition and image design, while the second half of the class will provide a hands-on review of your images with discussion on ways to change or modify capturing or processing techniques.

Class registration fee is $75.00. Attendees should plan to bring 2-3 photos for review (either printed or submitted in advance) for the review portion of the course. To register in advance and learn more, visit: www.wildlingmuseum.org/news/2021-nic-stover-photo-workshop

Class size is limited to 12 participants. Masks are required inside the Wildling Museum per Santa Barbara County Public Health mandate. Please email info@wildlingmuseum.org or call (805) 686-8315 with any questions.

About Nic Stover

Nic Stover was raised in the high mountains of Western Colorado on a single magazine subscription to National Geographic and only 5 television channels, where the only shows his family regularly watched were Nature (PBS) or the Tour De France. It was here that his love for adventure, the outdoors, and travel took shape.

Stover is based in San Luis Obispo, California, and focuses on landscape photography classes and workshops along with selling custom and limited edition prints. He enjoys showcasing the amazing places that are unique to the Central Coast, from sea caves to sand dunes and our dramatic coastal landscapes. His landscape photography work has taken him across the globe — from the backcountry of Greenland to the windswept mountains of Patagonia, and the frigid extremes of Alaska.  His portfolio of work encompasses aerial photography, desert, ocean, night, and mountain photography.

Nic Stover Photography exists to engage people of all ages, backgrounds, experiences, and desires into a dialog and journey into the natural environment and the impacts we, as humans, have on this changing world. Stover’s work exists to honor the art of photography through his ability to capture the moment or show a beauty that can be shared with the world. For more information, visit: www.stoverphoto.com.
