Summiting Mount Sabyinyo – A Day Hike in the Virunga Volcanoes with William Radford

He’s hiked on five continents so far, and will be sharing about hiking to the summit of Mount Sabyinyo in the Virunga volcanoes. His route was a rugged trail through Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park, home of the mountain gorilla. The summit of this extinct volcano, at just over 12,000 feet, is the border point between Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and offers breathtaking views of all three countries.

Questing for Humboldt Lilies with James Wapotich

James is a trail guide, UC Certified California Naturalist, Volunteer Wilderness Ranger with Los Padres National Forest, and author of the Santa Barbara News-Press hiking column, Trail Quest. He will be sharing about our native Humboldt Lily, where it likes to grow, the places he’s searched for it, and what the plant has shown him over the years and how that’s deepened his appreciation and enthusiasm for our local trails.
